From 1902 this Waltham "VANGUARD" is housed in a very scarce solid gold case, they didn't make many cases in solid gold for railroad watches and few of them survived the gold rush of 1989, this is a good addition to any railroad collection! (Ref r892) $1,123 Waltham - 19 jewels, riverside maximus, adjusted [movement], near mint 14k solid gold size 0 , 33mm, engraved, [back] case,, mint beautiful enamel dial with red 5 minute markers, blue steeled hands and single sunk subsidiary seconds. One of the highest grades of american watches, the Maximus from Waltham was their deluxe grade, this is a small pocket watch, probably a ladies watch but could be converted to a very nice solid gold , enamel dialed watch for a gentleman, very high grade american craftsmanship from 1907!
